Editorial Policy
Last revised: June 1, 2026
We are committed to accurate, useful, and respectful information about gender-affirming surgery. This page explains how we work.
The language we use
We write in person-centred language and lead with the person, not the procedure or a diagnosis. We use “gender-affirming surgery”, and the terms “feminising” and “masculinising”, in line with current clinical usage. We do not sensationalise, and we do not take a view on whether anyone should transition; that decision belongs to the individual and their clinical team. Our aim is dignity and clarity in equal measure.
How articles are created
Articles are researched and written using authoritative sources, including the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) Standards of Care (SOC-8, 2022), the NHS gender dysphoria services, NICE, and peer-reviewed systematic reviews, which we cite at the foot of every article.
Medical review
Articles covering clinical topics are reviewed by a consultant gender-affirmation surgeon before publication. Reviewed articles display the reviewer’s name, credentials, and the date of review. Our current reviewer is Mr Tobias Lindgren, FRCS(Plast). Because this is sensitive content where accuracy matters greatly, figures such as complication and regret rates are checked against the published literature on review.
Keeping content current
We review published articles periodically and update them as clinical guidance and the evidence change. Each article shows its publication date and, where applicable, when it was last updated or reviewed.
Independence
We do not accept payment to recommend any clinic, surgeon, or destination, and our content is written to inform, not to sell. Any commercial relationships, should we ever add them, will be disclosed clearly.
Corrections
If you spot an error, or language that does not feel respectful, please tell us via our Contact page and we will review it promptly.
